Toyota instructions
Toyota microfiche contains exploded diagrams of every component of the vehicle,
as well as the Toyota part number for every part in the car. Once you learn how
to effectively navigate through the microfiche, you will be able to find any
part number or any exploded diagram within seconds.
To find the diagram or part number that you are interested in, simply click on the
link to jump directly to the index of interest. Note that all the
links point to column 16 on the various fiche sheets. Column 16 on each
sheet contains the 'big diagrams' if you will. Once you get to the 'big diagram'
of interest, you will see an overview of the components that it covers, with
small reference images around the border of the image. Locate in the exploded view
the assembly you want to examine, and then note it's location.
Navigate to the sheet/row/column specified in the index and you're there!
To find the part number of any part in the diagram
you are looking at(if it's not listed on the same image as the diagram),
simply note the key number for the part, and navigate straight down
until you find the listing for that key number.
There is also a handy index of parts listed in alphabetical order by part name.
Example 1:
You need a battery for your MR2.
- Click on the first Electrical index(a).
- You will notice that the battery is not shown in the first electrical index,
so you click on the second electrical index(b).
- Find the small image of the battery and cables in the top leftmost corner of
the frame. Notice the location it gives: 5-d-2.
- Navigate to 5-d-2 by either clicking the navigation arrows or selecting
5-d-2 from the drop down menus and clicking the 'get it' button.
- In frame 5-d-2 you see an exploded view of the battery and cables.
- Note the Part Number of the battery (28800a)
- In this case, you will find the part number in the same frame as the image.
If the part number had not been in the same frame, you would simply navigate
directly downwards by clicking the 'down' link until you got to the part code
for the battery.
- Many parts will have different applications(depending on things like interior
color, options, market(USA, Canada, etc))
To locate the proper part number for your application, you will need to know
the production date of your car, what major options your car is equipped with,
the model designation of the car, and various other things.
The production date for your car is stamped on the metal FMVSS tag in the
driver's side door jamb(If it's a USA spec car).
Note that you can click on each image to enlarge it. To return to where you were,
simply click your browser's "back" button.
